Cape Town has some spectacular beaches, and during the summer ( October – April ) many people flock to Cape Town to experience its beaches. Beware the water last stopped at the Antarctic and can be very cold, if you are looking for warm waters then head elsewhere. Cape Town’s waters are for surfers and for a very brief dip to wash off the sand !
Camps Bay
Definitely the trendiest, go there to be seen! Incredibly beautiful and easily accessible , it is a good spot for sunsets. There are also a number of classy restaurants and cocktail venues to round off the day.
Clifton
This is made up of four adjoining beaches at the bottom of rather steep steps. But it is well worth the it if you are planning to spend some serious time on the beach. Because they are sheltered from the summer south-easter winds, Clifton beaches are a popular destination.
Long Beach, Noordhoek
If you feel like a long walk, or a horse ride, this is the beach for you . The wreck of the Kakapo is about halfway along the beach and a good resting stop or half way point.
Muizenberg
The longest beach in Cape Town it is a favourite surfing spot, so be prepared to share the water! Also possibly the warmest water temperatures. Good place for long walks or runs.
Fish Hoek
Possibly the best family beach in Cape Town with loads of space and parking
Sandy Bay
One of the city’s most beautiful beaches, also Cape Town’s only nudist beach, it takes about twenty minutes to walk to this secluded area.
Llandudno
Mainly used by residents of the area and surfers, Llandudno is worth the effort of getting there. Annual parties are held on the beach at night.
